fulgurite specimen

One of the most interesting of the many specimens of minerals at the Yilgarn History Museum.

Fulgurites commonly called "fossilized lightning", are natural tubes, clumps, or masses of sintered, vitrified, and/or fused soil, sand, rock, organic debris and other sediments that sometimes form when lightning discharges into ground.

This item was donated by Andrew & Melissa Zweck and was found near Mt Hampton.
