Masonic Lodge

The Southern Cross Masonic Lodge was one of the first freemason’s lodges in the Goldfields region and is the oldest example of a Masonic Hall in Western Australia today.Masonic Lodge

Masonic Hall was built in 1898 as men rushed to the Eastern Goldfields following the discovery of gold in the early 1890’s. The society operated for over 100 years before the Shire of Yilgarn took over the building due to declining numbers.

The Hall is available for use by community groups and has been used as an astronomy centre in the past. The original furniture is largely intact, with the original mosaics, books and fittings still there as well.
