Rabbit Proof Fence

The Rabbit (Vermin) Proof Fence was surveyed in 1901 by Alfred Canning (who surveyed the Canning Stock Route). Stretching from Port Hedland to Ravensthorpe, the fence was designed to keep rabbits and other animals from entering the grain growing region of Western Australia.
